    Question oven temp

    Hey I'm putting a rock in my snakes tank from outside.I know you are supposed to heat them in the oven before... soo what should the temp be for that??just wondering.... get back to me soon!

    I don't think you need to bake a rock, just soak it in some scalding water to kill any critters. Better yet, if you have some Provent-A-Mite, just pre-treat the rock with that to kill any critters off.

    Be very very careful putting a rock in an oven, you want to heat a rock slowly, if its heated to fast they can explode, not like dynamite or anything but you don't want to damage the oven. I would suggest letting it cool in the oven as well. If it heats or cools to fast it could crack as well.

    I'd either soak, treat with P.A.M or freeze but I wouldn't put a rock in an oven. As mentioned previously fast heating can explode some rocks and others, just by virtue of the composition of the rock, can come apart suddenly when exposed to high temps.

    I've been camping and had a rock in a fire pit surround suddenly go off. Pieces shot out like bullets. Very scary, very sudden, very dangerous.
