graduated cage sizes?

I'm about to upgrade my '08 coastal's cage. She's over 3 1/2 feet long, should be hitting 4 foot in no time.

My question is, should I go ahead and invest in a 4 foot AP cage, or would that be too big for her?

She really is quite tiny when she's coiled up, fits in hides that are suitable for BPs around 100-300grams.. but when she explores her cage at night she definitely looks like she'd enjoy having more space.

I'm wary to change things up when a snake is pounding food, best sign of low stress.

The bigger the better. But always make sure you have enough hiding places to the snake feels secure, and if you provide that you will have no problem dealing with stress.

i agree that a large cage would be no problem. giving her the room to explore will help her grow and increase muscle tone as well.... rather than being coiled up in a tub or whatever.

I do not think that you can have too big of a cage, as long as it has hides and stuff. When I bought my 40b adult tank for my bp, there was a sticker on it that said: NOT RECOMMENDED for very small snake and I was like why not?

I agree with larger the better. I keep my morelia's in the largest cage that I can either build or afford. Plenty of hides, and 2 hot spots with a good gradient works well for me.

The bigger cage is no problem, just monitor her and if you think she is getting stressed out, or starts to act funny, then add stuff in the tank to cut down on the size.
