Re: Can A 6 or 7ft Red Tail Boa Eat A...

A boa of 6 or 7 feet could very likely kill and eat a cat. The more important question, I think, is why you would be concerned about this in the first place. There is no reason I can think of why any snake and any cat would ever be in such close and unsupervised proximity to each other that might result in this situation ever arising. The cat could also harm the snake when it was too young to protect itself. Cats are predators at heart.

So yes it's a possibility and if it occurred it would be the owner's fault for not keeping the snake and cat apart and safe from each other.

dont let that turn you off from getting a red tail. You just have to be responsible owner. When you handle the snake make sure the cats are locked out of the room that the snake is in. Remember with a 6 or 7 foot snake to have someone else there to help if things go wrong

Just be smart about handling it and there shouldn't be a problem. Make sure you get the proper caging for it as an adult.

I've seen some pretty big cats.

I doubt a 7 footer would handle one of those 20lb+ maine coons.. though I suppose I could be surprised.

It doesn't sound like your cat is that big though, lol.

Like they said... there should never really be any chance for the snake to even encounter your cat unsupervised. BTW most cats are terrified of snakes and won't go near them. My 2.5 foot rosy boa scares the crap out of my cat lol...

My cats are fascinated by my snakes and not scared at all. Whenever my boa is out,the cats are put into another room "just in case" and that's a lot because my cats ARE NOT afraid of the snakes and would have no problem walking right up to it as if to say "Here I am! Free Dinner!"
