another ????
I have been seeing all of these pics with the mother on the eggs...
How does one get the eggs from the mother with out causing too much stress and not getting hurt in the process....?
(all of the pics I have seen I would be more afraid of the mother hurting me if I messed with her eggs
1 baby normal ball python (male- Rios)
1 baby spider ball python (female - Missy)
1 albino checkered garter (male - Little Dude)
1 checkered garter (male - Hudinie)
1 albion checkered garter (female - Rescue)

Re: another ????
They approach from the back of her and slightly grasp a little lower than her neck and her tail. It is true that they are a bit pissed when on their eggs. But if you catch them right after they gave birth, they will be too weak to even think about you.

Re: another ????
To get mothers off of their eggs, I always just turn a pillow case inside out, put the bottom over her entire body and head, then pull the edges down over her so the bag is no longer inside out, and she is inside it. Then I gently get a hold of opposite sides of the lower coils of her body, slide my fingers between her coils and her eggs, and slowly lift/uncoil her off of them, while making sure to not disturb the eggs (as best as possible). Once she is completely off the eggs, I flip the bag over, tie a knot, set the bag off to the side, mark and remove the eggs, then I wash the tub, replace the substrate and wate bowl, give her a bath, and call it a day. Being covered with the pillow case and unable to see what my hands are doing, they stay calm. I've never been bitten or had a strike once the pillow case was in place. Plus, the mom has to be moved for a while anyway, so it kills two birds.

I just picked her up normally and removed her. She didn't strike or hiss. I know some are more protective than others though. It was my first experience doing it, but was no big deal.

My girl was a little pissy, but i just put my hand over her head from behind and it was all good.

I do roughly the same thing as PythonWallace. Pillow case or towel, cover mom and gently remove from eggs. Mark eggs, put in egg box, put in incubator. Clean mom and tub just like PythonWallace. Then create a new clutch record
