Okay i know there is alot of contreversy between feeding frozen/thawed(f/t) and live. Personally, i feed my baby BP live cuz he/she wont take anything else. I want to hear what you have to say about f/t vs live feedings.
Also, i bought a little mouse at petco today for my baby bp.(im not sure what kind it was it had its eyes open and stuff and was running around so it wasnt a fuzzy.) and im not sure how old my snake is but its about 20 inches long. hes chillin in his tub right now stuffed from that mousie. back to the point... i have a few questions about feeding as well for anyone who can answer them.
Yes there is a lot of different opinions on this subject. Personally I feed live, probably always will.
1) Is it normal for my BP to not go in his hide after feeding? He just kinda spreads out and sits there in the corner.
Every BP is different so it's had to say what is normal.
2) Is there a big risk of him getting bit? i put him in there and watch him the whole time to make sure nothing happens, if the mouse gets way to close and the bp doesnt strike i shove the mouse away.
I have four BP's and they do get bit once in awhile but usually no bad enough to even worry about. If I were you I wouldn't worry about moving the mouse away from the snake every time it gets to close. As long as the mouse is well fed it shouldn't attack your snake. And as long as your snake has a good feeding response the mouse won't have a chance.
3) How long should i not hold him after feeding?
I usually give mine 48 hrs to digest.
4) Is it okay if i feed him every 6 days? i havent weighed him so i dont know his weight. im getting a scale soon i hope.
Every five to six days is a good rule and once they get bigger maybe just once a week.
thanks in advance.
