feed or handle first? how much handling is too much?

Just remember that handling your snake is pretty much like a gift. It's not expected or demanded, it's just very appreciated.

Snakes are lone creatures on the whole, not programmed by nature to need others as pack or herd animals do. Interacting with us is something that they can learn to tolerate, even perhaps "enjoy" in whatever way a snake is capable of that but it isn't something they particularily need. Your dog would be unhappy without some sort of daily interaction with you, your snake is not like that at all.

Enjoy the snake for what it is and more importantly, for what it isn't.
