Re: Rat Moms Diying
my pet stock is larger, never went with an NARR pedigree since those things are so easy to make up... I have better things to do with $40
(don't want to threadjack but I'd love to see photos of your chubba-wubbas!!)
I'm good with 3 to 4 week old feeders being a 50 to 75 gram weanling because some of our residents wouldn't eat much bigger than that & then I'd have to start breeding mice & I'm just not down with their funk! My big males grow to over 900 grams.
:-)
Back on topic... what ever happened with the remaining stock & the others you already had? Have there been more deaths or has this all resolved itself?

Re: Rat Moms Diying
If your males get to be 900 grams, you've got some Zucker in there.. Quit breeding them would be my recommendation. Being THAT large is just not healthy whatsoever. My males max out at 550-600g, but are still lean and muscular.

Re: Rat Moms Diying
not zuckers
they are lean, healthy, active & proportionate
This was only a mention of my big males... not every male. I would say on average my sizes fall in line with any other line I only posted the extreme as a comparison.
Is this some sort of smack down with you? My rats are better than you rats?
Please I really don't wish to engage in this type of post exchange since it completely takes away from the OP.
My apologies for even responding to the post. I wanted to help out with the dying rat moms issue & it looks like I tripped on someone's button. I'll lurk before I leap from now on.

Not sure what happened but no other deaths since original post, may have just been in a spike in temps.
