Re: Where should i buy my ball python?

I have just one BHB snake, a female yellowbelly. She _is_ pretty aggressive, but only around rats! (~_^)

She's got a powerful feeding response, but she's a sweetie once she knows you're not ringing the dinner bell.

Well, depending on what happens in the next few days you could have a hard time finding a ball python, or any python for sell actually, thanks to hr2811. If you havent heard about it yet, go to the laws and legislation part of the forums.

Re: Where should i buy my ball python?

I joke all the time with Brian from BHB about his mean animals, in truth that is a fun joke to have with him.....in total I have purchased 20 or so bp's from him and only one was nippy to start, younger bp which is common anyways.

Where to get your bp from? There are several excellant breeders within this forum alone. Take the time to research the breeder, email them, call them on the phone, and for the most part a good breeder will take time to help you with you needs even if it is a low cost animal. Avoid chain pet stores imo, bp's are known for needing excellant care to be healthy and good eaters, anytime bp's are kept in numbers in one cage...never a good thing.

I wont list all the breeders I would go with, but ask others, look thru the forums here, there a tons of big breeders and smaller hobby breeders right here that you can trust for help and with your money. Take time, be patient...time invested in research is invaluable in the end when it comes to purchasing an animals from a good vs. bad breeder....

Re: Where should i buy my ball python?

I recently got one from Petco for $29. Its a great snake, but they couldn't tell me the sex or anything. They're no experts. Look at chains from time to time for sales. RCReptiles was showing 14.95 for hatchlings, but after shipping it came out to $44 or so.

I always suggest buying normals from local breeders. I like to support the small breeders. A $20 sale to them means a lot more than a $20 sale to a big breeder. It is also nice to be able to pick one out in person.
