    my first litter YAY

    well i got my first so called litter today.........I was cleaning tank and noticed a prego so i took her out of breeder tank and placed her in a seperate tank.....a few hours later BAM out came the first pinkie...........and its been about three hours and nothing else yet........first time mommy still plump as hell.
    I know first time mommies have small litters but 1? and she is still huge any comments or suggestions...............she is tending to her one youngen good and very tentative............i would post pics but i can get a pic of one baby without disturbing she is keeping the baby warm............. thanks!

    i have 9 females in one tank..............................took the prego out B4 she gave birth....................then BAM she gave birth................
    if you got that part...........which i dont think you did...........to clear it up. i have several tanks i removed the prego because no one else is and earlier this week all the females ganged up one the male and killed him..........so i wanted to make sure my prego was away from any potential hazards

    now im wondering if she had more b4 in the main tank but i didnt see anywhile cleaning/feeding.......................im glad i got her out.....1 is better then none..

    LOL 4 hours lapsed and one more popped out.........i was going thought bedding in main tank and turned around and anotherone....dammit i wanted to see it give birth.....

    The major consensus around here is that 1 male to 2 females is most productive. If you create trios while they are young, you never have to add or take away individuals. They will work together as a unit.

    I run 1.4 with success. With their gestation cycles, it averages to one litter per week.

    You shouldn't have removed her.... for lots of reasons. You also should have 9 females in one enclosure! Please read through some of these threads, including the caresheet (the sticky on the top of this forum)
