Breeding Dilemma
This will be my first year breeding. I will have 5-7 co-dom breeder girls ready by then. I have a male pied and plan on having a male pewter or bee. At first I was planning on running both males through all 5-7 females, but then I got to thinking.... and here's the dilemma~~~ what if lets say my female pin only has pins and normals. I know that there is a small chance that a pewter to a pin could have just pins and norms. So if that happened with any of my co-dom females how would I know if the pewter or pied fathered them??? I already know I wouldn't but should I not run the pied through them because of this?? Thanks for any advice

Re: Breeding Dilemma
To remove the doubt don't run a co-dom to the same girl you did a recessive, unless it's the Super of said co-dom.

Re: Breeding Dilemma
That would then cut my chances in half basically, right? Should I maybe get rid of the pied and get a pastel lesser or killerbee etc.?? I just want the best chances of having all the girls lay.

Breeding with 1 Male will give you roughly the same chances as 2. however if you want to know which ones are and are not Het Pied then you shouldn't breed any Co-Doms to the girl unless it's a super.
For instance if you breed a Normal Female to a Pied Male and a Super Pastel Male all the offspring that were not Pastels would be Het Pied.

Re: Breeding Dilemma
That is how some Hets get sold as normals by accident. I would only breed a recessive to a female that is being breed with a super form of co-dom.

Re: Breeding Dilemma
Our solution to this problem, is that if a Recessive trait is breeding a female, then that is the only male that female sees. Also, If a female was bred by a recessive animal one year, she is bred by a Dominant mutation the following year. You can always get as messy as you want with the dominant animals, but we try to be very strict with the recessive breedings, to eliminate any questionable offspring.
