Re: You can almost feel the frustration...
They will be locked soon. It's actually the female that is not letting breeding happen in your pics. The male definitely looks willing.

Re: You can almost feel the frustration...
Some people will wait 3 days to remove a male, others will remove once they see a lock and the snakes separate. Its entirely up to you as to how to handle it.
I personally like to give them at least 24 hours even if I see a lock, then rest the male for 48 to 72 hours before re-pairing them.

0.1: Kingpin | x2 Mojave | Super Pastel HGW | Albino | Sterling Mojave Pinstripe | GHI Pewter | Pastel Het Clown | Sable 66% Het Clown

Looks like it may be a lock, but generally the male's tail will be on the bottom in most locks. Unless I'm mistaken, it looks like Luke's tail is on top in that picture?

They will lock up just give it time, and yes they could be locking at night. They will occasionally lock for long periods, so you will catch them, I leave my males in mon-fri and take out for rest sat-sun. I also offer them food on sat. I got this from Ralph Davis. I believe I read it in his breeding recipe.

Now im 300% certain that my BPs are locked.
Congrats Icy, I had my first lock today as well. I had no intention of breeding off season, rather just testing my boy and he locked up. Now I have to wait till he gets off of her because he's been locked since the first hour when I put him in, and was still locked when I left for work (many hours later)
Crazy how everything you read comes to life when you try it huh?

The male is 100% certain to be a male, because I bought him directly from Joe Compel. The female was popped awhile back by myself and also a good friend of mine who keeps balls, and we are about 90% sure she is a female. But if they were both males, wouldn't I be able to tell?
I suspect that the third picture I posted is simply not a lock. Sigh. What do you guys think?
I've separated them to give them a break for awhile. Caspie has been waiting at the front of her enclosure ever since. I'm going to offer food today (I don't expect them to eat, though) then put them back together in a couple days. I really appreciate the replies, everyone.
