Females are the ones that produce the clutches. Yes a Female spider x male pastel would produce bees as well. The thing with girls though is it takes a long time to make them breedable. Males can usually breed after their first year, but females take 2 years or 1500 grams before they can breed. Given the most hatchlings are ~50-80 gms a piece you can see how that is a lot of work to raise a female up to breeding size. Markus Jayne had a male breed as early as 4.5 months.
