    agrresive redtail

My red tail has become aggresive for some reason. I dont know if its because ive been away for 7 days on vaca or what. I made a home made hook to take her out. She started striking at it and hissing. So i stoped didn't want to stress her out to much. I put the lid back on.She was still striking at the cage when my head was close to the cage. What should i do leave her alone for a day and try with the hook again. Kind of stumped because i have kids and a new one on the way i dont want to have a aggresive boa.

If she ain't hungry, I'd take her out once or twice a day for about five min.. Just sit with her in your hand/hands, maybe while at the computer or something. She'll get used to it and calm down.

I'd also leave her alone for a couple days after a meal.

Is he/she in shed? My boy freaks out in this time, hissing, striking etc. all the pleasures of owning a snake, but he is tame like a puppy dog when is has finished shedding.
I also try to hook train him, always touch his head with a hook or stick before getting him out, so he knows he is not feed and it is just me.

If she is in shed, you may of missed her eyes clouding over while on vacation. Just monitor her closely.

    Re: agrresive redtail

Well she was fine before i went on my vaca. She shed during the time i was gone. Its hard for me to hold her because she stays in her hid with just her head poping out, looking for food i guess. Yesterday i lifted the hid and tried to hook her. That is when she fliped out. Should i just try puting the hook in front of her head from time to time until she stops biting it. Then work on hooking her.
