rat sales.....illegal??

So ive sold some of the extra rats i had from breeding on CL. My sister was talking to my aunt who is a police officer and she says that selling the rats isn't legal.
Im kinda confused because i see people selling them all the time, I've searched a little bit online to see if there are any laws about selling them and i cant find any.

Im not sure if my aunt is confused about a law or if my area has a stupid law on selling the rats.
I live in SE Wis.

Here is how you can find out.
1. ask your aunt who wrote the law...city county state
2. call the one who she believes wrote the law and ask them if in fact it is true.
3. do not stop there. find out the details of the law. it may be only local species or non-native species are prohibited.
