you need to be able to maintain temps of 80-84 cool side and 90-94 warm side 24/7 at all times. Its up to you on how you maintain the temps whether its heat lamps or heating pads. But be sure to maintain humidity as well of 50-60%.
Timers arent the best for ball pythons, they will work as a substitute till you can get a rheostat on the low end or a thermostat.
ok. Heres where I relize how little I no. Cool side warm side? Like one half should be one temp and the other another? Whats the best way to increase humidity?
You need to maintain a air temp of 80-84 throughout the cage. and a spot on one side thats 90-94 for thermo-regulation and digestion.
If you using a screen lid on a tank, best way to keep humidity up is cover 3/4 of the screen with alum foil and tape it down. and mist with water if needed.
Also you need to buy yourself a nice digital thermometer to measure your temps. the stick on ones are garbage period. you can get a nice accurite one from walmart for 11.88 that reads cool side warm side and humidity all in one.
You got it. After you read that caresheet and compare it to your setup feel free to ask away. You will answer most of them yourself just from reading the sheet.
I duno. Im way to green at this and kinda just hit the ground running.
Everyone starts somewhere. You may not know much, but you obviously care enough to find a good place to ask questions, and are taking the advice given to you. That is the sign of a someone who will become a very good snake keeper.
I don't think anyone else mentioned it, but it is a good thing that your BP mostly stays under his hide. BPs are very shy snakes. Usually if they spend a lot of time roaming around their tank, it is a sign of stress.
