    If a UTH is going to melt a tub, whats happening to your snake? I am pretty sure thats what you should be concerned with

    If a UTH is hot enough to melt a tub, it would surely have cooked your snake in a glass enclosure. That being said, a UTH is hot enough to do harm to your snake. A thermostat is preferred and trust me it will make your life a whole lot easier.

    ok so i think im going with some flexwatt for the tub, do it get tape directly to the tub or should i tape it to say the shelf it will be sitting on?

    From what I gather, the only difference between Ultratherm and Flexwatt is that flexwatt is made to heat longer spans (racks) and ultratherm is meant to heat single enclosures, like a UTH.
