Need some helps !
Hello everyone !
I plan to buy a blue tegu, though i don't have many experience about them . Do you keeping them before ? Tell me something i should do. I'm from VN - a tropical country which is always hot hot hot, temperature usually between 30-33 celcius. Hot rock, heat lamp, uva is needed ? I'm toooo lazy and don't have time to build a outside cage yet, so can I housing a blue tegu in the tank which is 4ft x 1,5 ft x 2ft in 2-3 months ? My tank near a window, the sunlight cover 1/2 the tank in 3 hours on morning and 2,5 hours on afternoon. Have me buy a UVB for them ?
Anyway, thank to read. Have a good days !

You can keep a baby tegu in that tank for a period of time, but it WILL outgrow it, so you'll have to plan on what you'll do when it grows up.
You do NOT need a heat rock, but you DO need a basking spot, which you make with a heat lamp. You will need UVB light, since the sun going through the window glass will not carry the full UVB, and better safe than sorry!
You will need a thermometer to make sure the sunlight through the window/into the tank does not raise the temps TOO high, and also, you may need to customize the cover so it will hold enough humidity.
It's great that you are making your plans early! You can get it all set up and ready before the tegu comes in.

First and foremost you will need a ProExotics temperature gun. With shipping they run about $30 and they are the best you can buy. You must have Calcum with Vitamin D3! All UVB animals must have this. Is this your first tegu? Blues maybe small but they make up for it in attitude. Blues and Commons/Gold and Black are Columbian species and are very very violent and mean. If this is your first tegu I recomend you get a Argentine Black and White or Red tegu. They are much easier to deal with and tame unlike blues and commons.
On your custom cage make sure the front does not have a large section of glass. Tegus can be good with their tails and bust a glass front with little problem. Make the front mostly wood and with a jigsaw cut a hole for the glass on the inside of the cage. Tegus like to head butt things as well so when building make it strong and sturdy.
