ok so it looks as though my bp desire took. she started to glow a long time ago but I never saw an ovulation so I was unsure if she was prego. I could also not feell follicles. According to her previous owner who had bred her, he had a look and said that when she was prego for him she was this same color but he had no idea she was prego till she actually laid. So she hides it well. 2 weeks ago I saw what I believe was the ovulation. She bacame quite thick halfway down her boady but not very far to her tail, just 6 inches or so. So I figure it was a small clutch which is maybe why i felt no follicles. well the thickness got longer and now she is fairly uniformly thick right to the tail and looks more evened out. I will post pics as soos as i get my new camera usb cord. Anyhow now she is in blue so my questions are:
this would be her pre lay shed?
how long after the shed do they lay so I can have the incubator ready?
88f is about the right temp for incubation?
humidity % best is?
how close to laying in days do you see them starting to stay on the cool side wrapping thier bowl etc?
when do the start to lay inverted?
do they loose thier glow color after the prelay shed?
this is my first breeding and while it seems i am asking alot of ?s i have done alot of research but am looking for confirmation from those who have experienced this from thier own breedings. i want to take notes on any differences and know of any variences that may occur. thanx.

If what you saw was an ovulation, then yes this would be her pre-lay shed.
how long after the shed do they lay so I can have the incubator ready?
Approximately 26-30 days later. It could be more and it could be less.
88f is about the right temp for incubation?
That would be fine. I generally incubate at 88.5 or 89, but 88 will work just fine as well.
humidity % best is?
It's generally near 100% humidity in the air. What type type of incubation are you using (Substrateless, eggs sitting in the incubation medium (and what medium), etc.).

They'll be heat seeking after her pre-lay shed. Bowl wrapping and staying on the cool side occurs during follicular development.
when do the start to lay inverted?
This occurs before ovulation if at all.
do they loose thier glow color after the prelay shed?
I'm not sure. I've never really paid too close attention to that. I would assume that they would lose some, but not all of it.

What LGL said, and just will add that usually after there prelay shed they go back to pretty much there normal color.

hmm well I never noticed her bowl wrapping or staying on the cool side. She must have ovulated then becuase she looks like she'd pop if i squeezed her, she starts to get way thicker a third of the way down and stays that way till her tail and she feels solid.
for incubation i have a hovabator, egg crate for the eggs to sit on and vermiculite for underneath for moisture. I dont have a probe or thermostat for the incubator, i planned to do daily checks with my temp gun to keep the temps right, will this work ok?

once i have my cam up and running ill post pics and maybe by looking at her someone here will be able to tell me more. I will also take note after her shed if her color returns to normal. Too bad though cuase she was so pretty, looked nearly ghost like, and axanthic. her normal color is a very dark brown will little yellow pigment anyways, she just had even less during the glow.

still waiting for answers to my above post but wanted to add that aswell as my temp gun I do have a digital stick on hygrometer/thermometer. if I put that right in the incubator willthis suffice as far as keeping my temps and humidity constant?

I would make sure there is some sort of thermostat with a probe hooked up to your incubator. What type of temp gun is it? Does it measure surface temperatures or air temperatures? No matter what you have that will show you what the current temperature is, you need something to control the temperature. A helpful feature that some thermostats have is screen that shows the highest and lowest temperature so you know if you've had a temperature spike while you weren't around. I'm not sure how much you are willing to spend on a thermostat, but I'm sure there is an affordable one that will get the job done.

so she has shed and her color has returned to normal, so I guess I should have some eggs in about 3 weeks or so.

when counting down from the prelay shed do you start the count from the beggining when she goes into blue or at the end when she has shed? I started counting from the end since I dont know the exact day she went into blue. From the end she would now be on day 22. I have also carefully checked to see if the eggs are moving any and when you lift her so her tail goes to the ground her bottom half gets quite a bit bigger. Whats the soonest after the prelay shed that a bp has laid?

Mine is on day 24 since the pre-lay shed.

I saw a thread recently that asked for the soonest after the shed and the concensus semed to be 20 days.
