You folks are right on-on further examination this morning that snake is indeed a pastel! I always thought our Caramel was a lot nicer looking than those I see on the net. What a stroke of luck

That's crazy!! I've been seeing more and more surprise clutches lately. How exiting! You have to post more pics of the babies after they shed and the sire. I'd love to see a pastel caramel.

Too many people hatching out surprises this season. I hope that means that my dinker female is actually a chocolate.

Curiouser and curiouser. I have been emailing the guy we got these snakes from. He says that he produced the male Caramel from the het male adult and 66% het female that we also got from him. The female is definitely to all appearances a normal-looking female. The male is "odd" looking, but it would be hard to call him a pastel-if anything he looks a bit like a "black pastel". his belly is clear.

I forgot my camera today-but tomorrow I intend to take pics of all protagonists in this drama and post them for your comments (the baby pastel of course is now opaque-but you can still see that he is a definite pastel)....
