    Feeding time for Duke.

I've been feeding my snake regularly to get his weight up, he seems skinny. I've had him for 18 days and just fed him his 4th mouse. He certainly didn't mess around this time. I put the mouse in the 10g feeder tank I use and let him do his thing for 10 mins with the terrarium doors open so the snake can get his scent.

I laid the snake in the opposite end of the tank and the mouse immediately ran to the snake and sniffed his nose, big mistake. The snake struck him down right away, I mean he was in the 10g tank with the mouse for about 6 seconds. Here are a couple of pics, including my dog watching him.

The dog looks really interested in the kill.

Yeah, he watched with intensity and sometimes whimpers. I haven't really figured out if he is more interested in the snake or the mouse. He seems to show equal interest in the snake and the live feeder mice I have but I'm not sure if he is upset by the fact the snake is eating the mouse or if he is just excited and curious about the whole thing.

He hasn't missed a feeding yet though.

Its actually a underwater background. I used the tank for my fish until I upgraded to a 30g one. Just never bothered to remove it. LOL.

That mouse looks a tad big for such a small snake. That is a huge lump in the belly.
Just my opinion though. If you are feeding such large meals you might want to think about feeding in the home enclosure so you don't have to pick him up after. Could cause a regurg.

Actually after a minute or so the snakes bump is pretty much gone, this was as he just finished swallowing. As soon as he finished compressing it inside him you could hardly tell he ate a mouse. I think the size of the mouse is just right.
