    Granite balls

I have seen many granites and was wondering if there a different types of granites where some are co-dom and others are not??? I f they have the speckling, flames, and clear belly than shouldn't it be able to produce combo morphs instead of 50/50 clutches from a pastel/granite???

    Re: Granite balls

From what I have seen and read, some granites are a co-dom morph, know at one point somebody was claiming to have super granites for sale (not sure who though) and others are just abberant patterned normals, hence no genetic reproduction possible.

As far as your question about odds of combos, It just confused me, sorry.

With any double codom combo the breakdown of odds are as follows

    25% normal
    25% trait A
    25% trait B
    25% combo A & B

    Hope that helps

sorry, i will clarify, i knew someone who bred there pastel to a granite and got 2 normals, 3 granites and 2 pastels, they did not combine at all and the off spring looked the same as the granite mother and pastel father with no crossing what so ever. in theory should they not make a combo???

    Re: Granite balls

There are a lot of proven lines of granites.
We proved out the cinnamon granite last year, and should see some combo's with that this year.

There are also orange granites, and black granites that have been proven out on a number of different lines.

Alot of the new combo's are made by breeders who do not put them online, or advertise to the public. The orange granite black pewters that were made last year were all held back by the breeder, we should see some combo's available this year, and possibly a super black granite or 2.

    Re: Granite balls

Would say your friend just missed on the granite pastels. Just bad luck would explain the lack of the combo morph. And as jnj stated there is alot of animals that have been produced that aren't being talked about and just cuz they aren't a big talk doesnt mean they aren't being done.
