Re: New Snakies!
thanks guys! Yea, I had no idea that an axanthic plains garter was that blue. I have anerythristic plains and they are jet, shiny black with a blue-gray stripe. I saw it and at first honestly I thought it was a puget, then I looked closer and saw it was a radix and then I saw the label and it all made sense!!! She was only $75, that is a steal!
The elephant trunk snake, javan file snake, dogfaced snake whatever you wanna call him seemed to be doing okay yesterday. I'm going to start him on live feeders and then very quickly switch him to f/t silversides once he gets comfortable. That is, provided he does well for me! I love to keep fish as well as snakes, and so this is like two birds with one stone! It would be really cool to watch him grow up Right now his setup is a small 5 gallon tank (he's tiny I feel he would be lost in ten gallons yet) with a hiding cave, a fake bonsai tree for anchorage and a ton of floating foliage so that he feels nice and secure when he takes his breaths of air. His skin looks good and I had first pick so I picked the biggest fattest one, once I realized that choosing a pattern is pointless because they all look the same!!! I am not heating the water because in my snakeroom it's not necessary, it reaches on average 85 and sometimes a little higher during the day in there! If it were in another room, or come winter time, yes the water would absolutely be heated.
