BP setup help
Hello all,
I am getting my Spider Ball in the mail on tuesday so I have to get everything setup this weekend. I am going with the bin setup. I use to have a single BP years ago and i had him in a glass tank but I am going to have multiple snakes now so I want to start a rack system. So to start I am buying this
http://www.target.com/Sterilite-Wide...erilite&page=1
I will also buy a heat pad. My question is... Are most heat pads that are sold for reptiles safe to use on these plastic bins?
So all I have to do is have a thermostat hooked up to the heat pad and put some bedding down and a water bowl in the plastic bin and he should be all set?
Since he is in the bin do I need hiding spots?
Thanks

I don't think that Sterilite Cart will work for housing BPs.

dont do it yet because u have to make sure that the rack doesnt have holes in it where your BP mite poke its head up and get burned by the heating pad on top of him yet under another BP.. like if you slide out the drawer/tub also the bottom of those things have groves making it a Pain to clean or stick undertank heaters.. i dont know if that makes sense pm me and i can explain it a little better also.. yes you still need a hide and water bowl temp gun humidity gauges ( forget what they r called) and if your building a rack system u might want to invest in a thermostat so everything is taken care of as far as temps go...

There is no might in this situation. If you are using Under tank Heaters a thermostat is a necessity. Without the ability to control the out put of the uth you will severely burn your snakes.

Re: BP setup help
OK thanks everyone. Today I actually bought 2 pull out drawer type bins that can stack on top of one another. They have tops on them both so the BP on the bottom cant touch the UTH on the one on top.

I agree with Adriana. Those stacking tubs won't really allow you to properly secure and control your heat source nor provide an escape proof enclosure. I would definitely lean more towards the locking single tubs (which you can stack if necessary.
A thermostat is a must, as well as a digital thermometer to measure the temps.
What size spider bp are you getting? If it is a hatchling you'll want to start with a smaller tub and gradually increase the size.
