What to do with too many ASF ??

Out of no where all my ASF decide to pop out 100 babies in a week and now Im completly up to my neck in ASF. What do you guys do?? I am located in the city Boston Mass. where there isnt too many people here who need feeders or are into snakes. I dont feed frozen, and really didnt want to resort to that. Thinking of feeding off all the males so I females cant get pregnant for a month or 2

You could ask your local pet store or rescue shelter (if they have snakes) of they would like some feeders.

You could also post an ad in the For Sale section on here... just in case you find someone in your area. IDK.. can you ship live rodents?

I personally would use the venue to start freezing them...tons of good reason to feed f/t.

an ad on craigslist might pan out.

There is only one answer to such an issue..... You simply need to get MORE snakes!

Re: What to do with too many ASF ??

Your best bet is to start feeding F/T.

I ran into the same thing about 2 or 3 months ago and ended up freezing a bunch of weaners so now I'm feeding multiples to each snake.

I also fed of my breeding males so I wouldn't have anymore litters till needed.

You can try craigslist or an add on here but when I did I only got people wanting one for a pet. No one was looking for feeders so it was pointless. I live in Boston as well so your probably going to run into the same thing, but you may get lucky.

Re: What to do with too many ASF ??

My other answer is you should freeze a number of them. You always want to have reserves in the freezer for unforeseen events.

Once you have a frozen reserve, then you can start getting into the other side of the ASF hobby. feed off the breeders, and start pairing up the best looking, healthiest kids. look for unique patterns and stuff and put them together.

Any time you feed off the breeder and set up a new group of babies... that automatically gives you about 2 months before any more babies are made... and you can continue to do this as much as you want. Babies also eat very little food, so it slows down the food consumption too. Your bigger snakes will certainly appreciate the nutritional content of those breeders.

    Hi,

Just a reminder folks we do not allow sales discussions on the regular board so if this thread ends up there it will have to be dealt with. It's getting uncomfortably close at the moment.

Pm's or the for sales forum if you feel the need to cross that line.
