    Re: Scales

You sir just saved me $14. I got one from Target for $30 that has a weight capacity of 6.6lbs. It didn't even have a bowl!

It is new. I figure I'll get it and I have some 2lb weights my wife uses for cardio, I'll check it's accuracy by weighing those first. I need a scale, getting my 0.1 Het Albino ready to prove out.

Try walmart around the coffee pots and electronic gadgets(blenders, etc.).
I did, they were more than I really wanted to pay.

Yeah, I don't think you need a scale that is manufactured by a reptile-specific company; any working scale will do the job.

Personally, if I were to buy a scale (which I want to), I would buy a larger one to use for when my short tail, Sangre, gets bigger. Something to think about for those that keep other species.
Ok cool that's along the lines of what I was asking. Most herp related items have recommended brands, i.e. Herpstat, Ranco, Sterilite. If any scale will do then any scale will do.

Yeah I saw that one at Target and didn't buy it. I didn't think 30 bucks was money I wanted to spend on a kitchen scale that I probably will never use for food items...with the exception of mice and rats of course.

    Re: Scales

i think thats the scale i have (mine is white). it works very well. I've been told that only the AC outlet adaptable ones are "good" but this one is battery operated and i use it for my snakes with great success.

I may buy a plug in one later when i breed and stuff, but for right now this does the trick just fine.

    Re: Scales

I just got mine today, but I think it's broken. It has one button that does on/off, tare, and changes units. But mine isn't changing units from oz, it either tares it or turns it off (go figure). Anyone else with this problem?

    Re: Scales

I wish i could of said something sooner.

I bought the same exact one in white and it kinda sucks.
First off i bought 2 of them and the first one broke after the third use.
Second i have a more axpensive scale and it is dead on(i have weights) and this one would be off by 10-20g every time i use it.
Third it is very flimsy, i dropped the second one from about 2 fee and the top part of the scale flew off and the display cracked.

Hope you have better luck with it than i did.

The button for it to change modes is on the bottom, the instructions are all wrong.

It works fine for me. It's dead on, I checked it up against some 2 LB weights my wife has. Its cheap enough that if it breaks I can get another one. When my collection grows Ill splurge on a 40 dollar namebrand one, but this is cool for now.
