The power reset counter gets incremented each time the Herpstat gets powered up. So every time you unplug it and replug it back up that will increment. If you reset it and leave it plugged in and its incrementing that means your home power is cutting out. It could just be a brown out (where the voltage dips low enough to cause a reset on the processor). A surge protector shouldn't make a difference in that case as its a lack of power and not a spike. It really just a identifier of power quality. So if you are checking your high/low temps and the low looks very low you can check the power reset counter to see if maybe the power was cut causing the problem.
