If you have a good amount of whatever heat source you used and a proportional thermostat, it shouldn't effect it at all, especially in somehing that is well insulated like a fridge. Last season my snake room temps went from 74° at night to 86° during the day, every day, and my cooler incubator never shifted more than ±0.1°.

Not as long as your using a quality thermostat on it and not a Rheostat.

For where we are it shouldn't be a problem, but room temps will always play a part in heating or cooling anything. I would worry if it got to like 105 degrees out there in ElCajon. I worry about really hot hot day much more than cool days. The insulation in that cooler should provide a good deal of protection either way.

As long as it stays cooler than or equal to the set temperature of the incubator, it won't be affected. But if the room gets hotter than the incubator's set temperature, than you will have problems. If it's a wine fridge, you can use a Herpstat thermostat set to cool instead of heat, and set to On/Off instead of proportional, to plug the actual unit into, and set it to cool to 89 or 90 if it gets warmer than that. So if your room heats to 91 and the incubator exceeds the set temp, your heat source will shut off and the peltier cooling chip will kick on and cool it down to 89. Just keep a 1 degree difference in the set temps so they aren't both on competing with each other.

Were are you putting the probe for the ranco, I have a helix unit on mine and it work really well. The problem with on/off style thermostats is they have over shoot when trying to obtain set temp so there will be a longer time were the thermostat is to high to low to high until it has reached equalization to were it can hold the temp which is why I use a proportional thermostat. I just read that and I hope it makes sense. Keep the probe out of the egg box.
