Scales: what should their max weight be?

I need to get a new scale, the ones I have don't go above 2kgs, and I am wondering how much my new one should be able to measure? I know I want it to measure in 1g increments. I was thinking around 6kg should be sufficient for any ball python I ever have.

There is a small chance I may get a red tailed boa at some point in the future, but fow now just assume I will only be weight ball pythons and ball python related items.

Not really. The chances that you'll have a BP greater than 4kg are pretty slim, so either 5kg or 6kg scale would be fine.

Have you looked on ebay? I got mine for $25 brand new, and it goes all the way up to 7kg. Same model as this one here.

I normally would but I have a $100 credit on that medical supply site.


If anyone can think of anything else for snake husbandry I could get there suggest away. I already have hemostat and a good tweezers.

I say a 5kg scale should be sufficient.

I have the Escali one you have pictured and I love it. Measures very accurately. Measures in g/oz and has the tare option which is useful.
