    Normal BP with different eyes?

    Hi --

I just got my new normal BP last week. I had one previous to this. I had that one for eight years, and sold him about three years ago.

When I looked at my former snake, it looked like his eyes were just black. But, with my new one (especially if it is bright in the room), his eyes sometimes almost look brown, and I can easily see his vertical pupils. Does this sound right? Are most normals eyes just black, or can you normally see the pupils. I'm certain I never saw the actual pupils on that snake in eight years.

Am I just imagining things, or could this new snake have genetics that make his eyes look this way?

    Thanks,

    George

Well I don't know anything about genetics. But what I do know is that sounds pretty cool.

Ok what I'm about to tell you just happened! Its a true story, and none of the events have been altered, believe me!

So when I go to this site, I sometimes take my Montie out and put his hide on my computer desk, which he then just hangs inside while I'm reading the forums....call me weird...

So I go this particular thread about the eyes and how its not all black...as I'm reading, I'm thinking "Wait a minute, Montie's eyes are not entirely black either" Me like an idiot, just remove him from his hide, which startles him...He tries to run away from me but i catch him and he wraps himself on my hand with neck sticking out...as i look at his eyes, which by the way are brown on top and black on the bottom, his black pattern on his face runs through part of his eye which is awesome to me...He freezes, and looks at me! Yes his eyes turned and looked at me!...It was both hilarious and amazing...I did not know snakes can turn their eyes...This is something new and amazing to me, and I had to share it with you guys, which probably already experienced this many times....

Yeah so my guy has brown, and a small strip of black on the bottom, but you can still see the top part of his pupil...

    He looked at me...

LOL I love it when my snakes shift their eyes and look at me! I have noticed that Kyros's eyes turn full black when he is shedding but once the eye caps come off they are back to his golden bronze. So I guess just make sure the eyes have no retained eye caps

Yeah, their pattern should continue through their eyes and make part of it darker than the other. And yes, they can move their eye balls
