    Not hungry?

My BP has not eaten in the past two weeks. Before that he was eating every Thursday, no problem, but for the past two weeks now, I put the live mouse in with him and he show's absolutely no interest in it at all. At what point should I start becoming concerned that he's not eating? Any reasons why he would not eat? Nothing has changed in his environment. Thanks for the help.

    Re: Not hungry?

How old is he and how much does he weigh? If they are at a good weight (above 300g) they can go without eating for well over a month with no ill-effects.

He might just not be hungry.

Sometimes mine does that but eats after a few weeks...it might just be because it is not hungry...

    Re: Not hungry?

My Spider Ball just ate his first mouse in over a month. I have a normal that is on it's 2nd week of a hunger strike. Both ate regularly before going off feed. My Male het pied also went off feed for a few weeks but has taken a small rat each of the past two weeks. Just keep offering on Thursdays as you have been, eventually it should eat.

    Re: Not hungry?

Try not to stress about it. I know this is hard, it took me a while to realize that this is something that is going to happen from time to time. As long as you are givning the proper care your snake will eat when he is ready too. Mine only goes off food for a few weeks here and there but I know some people whos's snakes sometimes go 2 months without eatting and I have know a couple breeders who have had BP go as many as 4 months with no food with no ill effects. Granted the latter where adult snakes. If the snake is young they can still go for a good period with no problem. When my BP was about 7 months old she didn't eat for about 6 weeks but only lost a few grams of weight and was still acting normal. I was super stressed back then but one week she just started eatting again. Since I have learned to calm my worries. As long as it isn't drastically lossing weight or becoming extremly lathargic, you shouldn't have any worries IMHO.
