popping is 100% safe if u know what your doing. you should have a professional show you how first. Probing is just as dangerous for an inexperienced keeper.both can result in physical injury to the snake if done incorrectly.

probing is easier in a sense that its universal and can be used on many different types of snakes.... you can't pop a baby RTB or corns lol
