hide size
I have a 3ft long bp that weighs about 1200g. I currently have two Exo Terra XL caves, but I think they may be too big for her. I can see extra space when she's in there. Would the Med size (seems to be the only other size) be better for her? Does anyone have this size and similar sized snake?

Re: hide size
Reptile basics has a great selection of different sized hides.

Maybe a large would be right for her? I don't have any of these personally (or a 1200g snake) so maybe people who do can chime in

Re: hide size
A large is even bigger than what I've got now. The XL is about 10x10, and 5" tall at its highest point. The Med cave is 10" long as well, but I believe it's a lot shorter.
I have never been a fan of the reptile basics hides, they don't look too natural. But thank you for posting that regardless.

Re: hide size
what i did with my large hide for my baby bp is suction cupped a plastic plant on one side of the hide to make it a tighter fit for her. it was her favourite plant on the cool side so i decided to include it in her hide on the warm side. i am going to take pics plus do a write up this weekend about it.

I was thinking of doing a similar thing instead of getting two more smaller ones that I would eventually have to upgrade again. I just need to think of something to put in there.
Recently, she barricades the entrance of her cave with her body, so maybe she does just have enough room? I think it might be too high though.

Re: hide size
oh something else you can do is clumple newspaper in the hide and secure it with tape on top.

Isn't tape a no-no in the enclosure?

Re: hide size
Yeah no tape. Trust me. Getting it off the snake is an awful experience. They will always find a way to get stuck to it.

Re: hide size
i was thinking of folding the tape so its double sided on the top of the hide. the snake won't have access to this area because it will be covered with newspaper.
