Re: Picking up a *therapy* corn tomorrow...

From my understanding, it is a sign of obesity.

Here are some more extreme examples. I believe you will have to register on that forum to see the pics.

In any event, I don't think the snake had that shape since it was a hatchling! Sometimes people say the oddest things when they are trying to get rid of a snake. I just read on another thread where someone was sure their BP they are getting rid of was a female, due to the eggs it has layed every month or so.

I believe that a proper diet and exercise (lots of people seem to recommend swimming) will improve the situation, but I'm not sure it goes away entirely once it has developed.

Re: Picking up a *therapy* corn tomorrow...

    Hi,

My male has a small "fatpad" on one side just above his vent and he has never really been overweight.

I am trying to see if I can reduce it by cutting back his diet but it seems stubborn and he certainly isn't appreciating my efforts.

But nothing like as extreme as the one in that first thread.

Re: Picking up a *therapy* corn tomorrow...

    She has pretty big *nubs*

But in all honesty, looking at the rest of her she looks OK. They people were not *snake people* but in all honesty they were good and attentive keepers.

They feed her every 10 days... so I am a bit at a loss, are some just more predisposed to the middle aged spread? She is six+ years old. And perhaps it was so gradual that they just always recall seeing it.

The mom just noted that she figured this was what corns look like.

PS: the poor thing is lurking like mad - girl is HONGRAY! I will get some pics, do some reading, and see what I can do to minimize it.
