Re: Snake flipping
I think it would be wrong to "flip" an animal without the buyers knowledge.
I have flipped several, but the buyer was fully aware that the "flipped" animal
has not been in my care very long. Truth will always stand!!! lol
But the world is full of unethical people chasing the almighty dollar, and
that is where the problem is.

Re: Snake flipping
As truthful as I am, the buy would be fully aware by the time of purchase. No worries there.

Hey Heather.. When you get done with that pole, come have a look at my snake. LMAO
But seriously. I really don't mind someone doing it as long as they're doing it ethically and with some care for the animals. I generally try not to deal with those folks, but if they were genuine enough and had something that really interested me I might.

Re: Snake flipping
Hi,
One thing aside form the ethical considerations.
Quarantine. In multiple areas if you have many batches coming in.
If you are having a lot of snakes pass through your care then the chances of something going wrong increases.
Last thing anyones reputation needs is a taint of spreading disease or mites etc.

Re: Snake flipping
it gets down to the person who's doing the selling, responsible herper or fast buck artist.flipping in itself is not bad or means the seller is a bad guy/gal.
first two questions when i inquire about a animal, how does it eat and how long have you had it.
buying at wholesale and selling at retail is how much of our everyday life works.have fun!

Re: Snake flipping
I guess I am considera flipper lol I get snakes in from rescues and once they are deemed ready I offer them up for adoptionand such. I only chargea minuim fee to help cover the cost of the caring of them while they were QT( live vets, meds and such) outside that I raise them asif they are part of my collection because until I find them new homes they are part of my collection.

Re: Snake flipping
I agree with what seems to be the consensus here. So long as the seller is honest with his/her potential buyer(s) about where the snake came from, how long he/she has had it and doesn't intentionally sell a sick snake then I don't see a problem with it.
The issue of quarantine and multiple snakes passing through, if done on a larger scale, are definitely worth noting.

Flipping means buying something at a lower price and reselling it at a higher price for profit. I wouldnt think placing a fee on the said adoptable animal to cover the care/vet bills etc. would be considered flipping.

Re: Snake flipping
Seconded. A adoption fee for a rescued animal that has been health checked is not "flipping" or selling.
