MAJOR problems

Okay where to start.....

1) Temperature. My UTH is working and is hooked up to a reptitemp 500R thermomstat. I have a acurite digital thermometer. So my problem is...the thermostat will shut off when the temp gets to 93.5 but when the temp drops down it will not come back on untill it reaches like 90!

2) Theres no water bowl in my tank and my humidity is at 66%! How do I bring this down??

1.) I use a reptitemp 500r atm also, and that happens also. It is what happens with it. ITs basically a glorified dimmer switch..does not stay at an exact temp if the room temperature changes a bit. 90-93 is a good temp so I honestly wouldnt worry much. Now if it was dropping below 90 , I would worry. Mine stays between 90-94.

2.) You should have atleast one water bowl in there for them to drink from, even if it is small. Does your tank have a screen lid? Or are you using a tub? What substrate are you using?

2. screen lid with aluminum to keep in heat. using paper towls for substrate

acurite thermometer says 93 for hotside but another thermomemter (not digital) is saying 90

Those thermostats are notorious for having temp swings like your experiencing. Your other option is to go with a more reliable thermostat like Ranco, or to go Proportional.

Humidity wise, I'd open the top up a bit more. Is it completely sealed off?

Whats the weather like in your area right now? The humidity in my cages naturally rises when the weather outside is humid or rainy.

Yeah I cannot and will not afford a better thermomstat lol! The top is half sealed. Well i do live in florida....it has been rainy...

I would attribute the humid enclosure to the local weather then You obviously want a water bowl of some sort in there at all times as well. Even a small water bowl is enough for them to drink from, and not enough to really create a compounded humidity issue.

You can try opening the top up more if possible, just make sure you can keep the temps right.

A temp swing of a few degrees your 500R is giving you is certainly within the safe temp range. It may give you problems if you ever try to breed though, e.g. the female heating herself up for the eggs.

Do keep an eye on that thermostat. I've seen too many threads of people who cook they're snakes because they used one of those things.

um...wheres the thermometer probe go? Its in the hot side hide....its reading 93 but when I put it under the substrate it reads 98.5

It needs to be on the bottom of the enclosure, under your paper towels, under the hide.

If it reads 98.5, you need to turn your thermostat down ASAP, anything over 95 isn't recommended. Temps that high have SERIOUS potential to burn your animal.
