    New to ASFs

    Hi everyone,

I just started my first ever ASF colony about 3 weeks ago (1.3). I was fortunate that two of the females were already pregnant. The first litter was born on 5-14 and last night the second litter was born. The third female is smaller but she looks pregnant too. So far I've been able to count 14 babies but I think there may have been one or two buried under the pile .

So far so good! There haven't been any losses (I was used to disappearing babies from when I was breeding mice) . They are so cute and fuzzy! A few of them are all brown with a cute white blaze on their heads.

I was also wondering if anyone supplements their diet when there are nursing mothers.

One of the moms with everyone:

    The whole group:

This was the first litter of 6 or 7 on the 15th (I think):

I give mine wax worms and large crickets. They go nuts over the crickets and it lets them hunt something. Just make sure to go easy on the wax worms. They are high in fat. Which can be good for mothers. Just in moderation.

i also give them the odd cricket here and there, its fun to watch them scurry around and try to catch the little buggers.
