Re: Craigs list: DUMB people update

When I got her I ask how she had been sexed. He said she had been poped as a female. I really didn't care as long as I could get her out of such a bad place.

Well I probed her today to find out she is a he. So I am going to keep him in QT for 30-60 days, then find a home for him. I am most likely only going to ask maybe 20 + shipping, since finding him a GOOD home is more important than than anything. He handles great and eats like a champ. LOL I offered him a hopper asf and he nailed it like there was no tomorrow. I am going to try him rats so his new owner can feed him rats. Right now I am waiting for a litter of rats to be born.

He is looking a LOT better and seems content enough. Send good thoughts his way and if you know of anyone who might be looking for a good pet keep an ear out for me. Thanks
this is a photo of when I got him. I will post new photos later.

I'm so glad to hear that you were able to save him! He is beautiful and i'm glad you're bringing him back to optimal health!

As for craigslist, yeah, I would advise anyone looking on there for reptiles and the such to do a thorough screening of the people you're buying from. We bought a Tokay Gecko for $50, set-up and all, and when we thought we got a sweet deal, the Tokay had internal parasites all along (in which the lady failed to mention, and it was also our fault that we didn't do our research and question further), and it was so infested that it ended up dying anyway.

I used to like craigslist in the very beginning, but now I can't even stand to go on there, just between looking at unhealthy animals, people wanting quick cash, or fighting over pit-bulls.

    Thanks.

He is NOT for sale right now. He is in QT and will remain here untill he is deemed safe and healthy enough to go to a good home. He is super sweet and I LOVE his color, so even then he might not go anyplace. I offered him a rattling and he pounded it. Guess he will eat anything.

He just shed so I thought I would take a few photos.

He has just shed and is looking 100% better. Good clean lungs, active, eating almost anything I put in with him. He is a sweetheart as well.

    Re: Craigs list: DUMB people

He's looking good and I'm sure will continue to do well under your care. Hopefully at some point you'll find him a really good pet home.

Folks, let's please remember that slamming an entire site for the actions of few irresponsible posters isn't really very fair. It's highly unlikely that the owners of Craigslist are aware of what's said here and therefore, are in no position to defend their service and their site. Craigslist provides a good service overall. Let's put the blame squarely where it belongs - at the feet of irresponsible owners of the animals involved. Where they post them isn't really relevant in the end, since sadly you'll find abused or neglected animals through many, many sources.

Several hundred dollars later, if not more, we have a few nice Craigslist saves too! (who infested us with mites, had RIs, etc... but they were worth it, they're such sweet babies).

YES what is with craigslist people sometimes? I've come across people saying the worst experiences they had. From scams to violence. Just yesterday I saw on tv they busted some explicit services operation from craigslist. Crazy.

    Re: Craigs list: DUMB people

I rescued a 3-year old female that only weighed 500g from CL in Jan of this year. She was advertised as a "he", was skin and bones, had RI and was COVERED with scars. Her whole back from head to tail is scar after scar...and she had a really bad belly burn (with pus and everything). She was living on Carefresh (no humidity) in a huge cold tank (half log hide) with a tiny unregulated undertank heater that was at 130 degrees, and ate 1 mouse/rat baby every 2 weeks. My heart told me I had to get her out of there even though she looked horrible. After several visits to the vet, prescriptions, weekly meals of appropriate size meals.....she is now close to 900g and looks great (scars and all). I love her very much and I am so happy that I rescued her.
