I agree, that's pretty shady... but I encountered dog rescues that were just as picky, which is why I ended up just going to the pound (where I got my Rudy). One Aussie rescue rejected me because I worked 15-20 hours a week - and they said the owner should be home full-time. Whah??? Do they really think a dog can't handle being alone a few hours a day? I realize that particular dog had some separation anxiety, but how is he going to overcome it if you're home ALL day? Anyway, I do think some of them go overboard, which only hurts the animals in the end.
