Very nice looking snake! Im new to the whole ball python morphs thing and still trying to figure out all the morphs theres hundreads lol. So this is kind of like the albino versions of the retc? The bob clark albino and then theres the amel albino but there not compatible with each other when breed together? I also was expecting it to be a lot more the 5 grand.
Also what is a caramel kink?

Caramels tend to genetically pass down kinks in their spine. It's a result from early inbreeding of the morph. Hopefully with some careful breeding, they will be able to outcross this trait.

Thanks for the heads - up Brock!! -- makes outcrossing more vital, and unkinked Caramels more desirable/valuable. I understand that ALL Caramel lines kink -- even Upscale. I willingly accept a certain (hopefully small) percentage as part of working with a great morph.

Re: Here is my Ultramel male!
Thank you kasi. I had never heard of that before. Is that common in any other ball morphs?

Well, the spider gene passes along the "spinning" gene, which is seen also in the combo's to a certain degree. Both the kinking and the spinning has the possibility to occur in -any- individual ball python. Some people think that the fact that the kinking is associated to the caramels and the spinners to the spiders make it look like these are linked traits, but I believe that a lot more genetic testing needs to be done to prove that theory. If you do a search on BP net, there is a thread about a normal BP that a veteran here rescued/adopted. His name's Loopy, and he is a good example of a severe case of a spinner. Every individual is capable of having kinks/spinning, which is why I think it's a good idea to get as detailed of a genetic history of your snake as possible if you plan on breeding.

Re: Here is my Ultramel male!
No problem Bill. You are right when you produce a non kinked Caramel it does make it that much sweeter. It is a very unfortunate genetic problem with Caramels. But who doesn't love the colors on a Caramel.
I will keep everyone updated on the Ultramel's progress.
Thanks
Brock

by outcrossing them, you also risk of passing it to other non-caramel morph. Then it's start to be problematic.
All the kinked one should be put to death or at least never breed or sold to people who want to breed or resale them for breeding.
Otherwise we will end up with the same problem as we have with dogs and cats. In some race, the same problem keep occuring over and over, and can't be stopped anymore.
