Can I have a buck???
Ok we all need money in this time of need but it's really getting to me! Today I was sent an invite to either send money or attend a BBQ fundraiser for someone's legal fees because a bio mom wants custody but was denied legal aid( legal aid denies custody cases), of course there was a youth fundraiser dinner tonight( I have no idea what it was for) and for the past 2 days a fundraiser plant sale for a horticultual society across the street adding more cars to a park area( also my kids and MIL helped sell plants), yesterday a round it up to the buck got me and so did a kids school fundraiser. I mean times are tough but what gives? I have no problem throwing a $5 to a person who's house burnt down as that's a huge loss or a child in need of care but jeeze in the last month I must have been hit with findraisers once too many. I refused to let my kids go door to door selling chocolate bars for school as we already hit people up 3 times this year and I feel it's way too much in these money troubled times(I know many who lost jobs and now live off barely anything). BTW the kids school has a fun fair next month that will most likely cost me $100! I know I don't have to donate to all these fundraisers but this is just in two days and each week I'm asked atleast 3 x to donate to the same charities! Sorry just need to vent a bit.
Too many pets to list!

Re: Can I have a buck???
For one thing, if I don't know where the money is going, I sure don't donate. I also don't donate to people for their personal issues, like wanting custody of a child or whatever. If you are going to spend $100 on a funfair at your kids' school, then don't bother with the 50 other people asking.
I have a couple places I donate to, including a monkey rescue that ONLY exists on donations. I've spent a little time there volunteering too. If you want to spend your time, you shouldn't spend your money there too, unless it's a real GOOD cause.
Just say no. It's a small word, and you don't have to get elaborate, just use the one tiny word. "No."
No one DESERVES your money. You can choose to donate or not, and if they try to pressure you, then that alone should tell you not to donate.
