Chlorhexadine
Ok I would have swore I read somewhere that once you mix the Chlorhexadine, it goes bad really quick. If that is the case, how fast does it go south? I only have two tubs to clean at the moment so I don't want to mix up a bunch of it, then throw it out. Sorry if this is a really dumb question. Maybe I am just remembering wrong...

I THINK I heard this too. I have no proof sorry. I am still looking for a decent place to order it from. The last link someone gave me, I ordered but they have been jerking me around for about a month and a half now.

Re: Chlorhexadine
I just got mine in yesterday from reptile basics, along with a ranco thermostat, and had no problems at all

Re: Chlorhexadine
Diluted in tap water it will last a week.
Diluted in distilled water, up to 6 weeks.

Re: Chlorhexadine
KLG (Kara from NERD), was the first person I saw mention this. Depending on the quality of your water the disinfecting qualities of it start to diminish the longer its used. I try to mix small batches so that I can use a fresh mix every week I clean.

Re: Chlorhexadine
RBI (Reptile Basics) is a good source for chlorhexidine solution.

Re: Chlorhexadine
I worked for a vet that told me 24 hours...so that's what I go with to be safe.
My bottle of chlorhex says to dilute 1 ounce (2 tablespoons) to one gallon, so it's a very negligable amount to have to make up a new batch everytime I clean....
I trust the doc, personally...

Re: Chlorhexadine
Question: is Chlorhexadine strong enough new tubs? I am getting a new rack soon (from ARS woo!) and some new tubs. Would it be safer to use bleach/alcohol/vinegar? If I use Chlorhexadine should I use a slightly stronger concentration?
Thanks
