Egg Going Bad
I went to check on the eggs this morning and let some air circulate. One of the eggs is turning green. The whole top of the egg that is not buried in the vermiculite is green. I tried wiping whatever it is off the egg with a paper towel, but it wasn't coming off. One other egg is starting to develop this green coloration in two small spots. The temp is steady and the humidity is fine. When you lift the egg out of the vermiculite slightly, the underside of the egg is a creamy white. So what is this and how do I get rid of it?

Re: Egg Going Bad
If the egg is not fertile, then it will go bad. You should remove it, so that it does not spread mold to the fertile eggs.

Re: Egg Going Bad
i would leave it in until it really starts to rot. is the egg box dripping on it??
i had a clutch of 5 that had 4 eggs go bad all on top of the one good egg. the mold didn't spread to the good egg and it stayed white the entire time.

Re: Egg Going Bad
But its the one I found a vein in. The light got through the egg and I saw on one side, a red vein. Is it still infertile? I will go ahead and remove it as you suggested.

Re: Egg Going Bad
No dripping that I can see. The eggs are not wet. There is condensation on the sides of the egg box though. I will take a picture and upload it.

Re: Egg Going Bad
When I opened the tub there was slight condensation on lid but it wasn't to the point of dripping. The green egg had very very slight moisture on one spot but the entire egg has turned green other than the underside that is covered by vermiculite.
I'm uploading the picture now.
