Cobras are considered CITES appendix II animals. They are apparently NOT considered endangered in Thailand and are locally abundant. It looks like about 20,000 cobras are shipped from Thailand every year as skins and parts, the only reason this snake wine was seized was because they didn't have CITES paperwork.
