As long as you understand how it operates, and are familiar with the difference between on/off thermostats, and proportional thermostats. And are going to be running the thermostat within its limits, then yes, a Johnson Controls thermostat should be perfect!
Its pretty much plugging a thermostat into another one, and putting both probes in the same spot. Added security more or less, worth the extra cash if you ask me.
Johnson is the best of the on/off style stats IMHO. I have two of them, one running the cool side of my rack and the other running the QT cage, and I've never had a problem with them.
