Driving down the road I see...

    .....this little guy!!

    ....and this big gal!!

    ....and this neat looking toad!

The flies were horrible today so I just road around a few places looking for stuff off the road. I think I spent maybe two hours riding around. Not that bad for the day. I did spot two DOR rough green snakes, bunches of bunnies, a turkey and some turtles too. Thought I would share. Hopefully tomorrow has a better yeild

Cottonmouths have a reputation of being aggressive, but IMO they're really not.

With my limited experience I've only had a handful strike at me, out of the few dozens I've worked with. Most try to get away and less than 50% even gape.

Compared to water snakes these guys are puppy dog tame, they're not worthy of their reputation.

    Just my $.02

Did not strike at me once. I moved it off the road with my tongs and it just stayed curled up in the strike position the entire time. Not always the case but this one wasn't that fussy. It was not even two feet long so it was still young....and younger animals always tend to be a bit more defensive.

You can always handle them without getting bit

    Just gotta be good.

I've only been bitten twice by water snakes and they were both snakes. I always use a hook and try not to get bit for practice with venomous snakes, which are never as aggressive.
