what does your vet think that is?

Again, soak that snake in room temperature water with diluted Betadine. Get yourself a new vet.

Yikes... based on your other thread, I'd say it's definitely a burn, but it looks as if the burn turned into scale rot.
He described scalerot as a red sores turning into brown scales
(From your previous thread)
This is not neccessarily true. Scale rot is a general term for any bacterial or fungal infection of the scales. A burn such as this one that has turned into (from the looks of it) a bacterial infection is considered scale rot.
why does my snake having 2 sheds at once?
When snakes have skin infections, mites, etc, they are fully aware of it, and try to get rid of it by shedding repeatedly.
Did either of the vets you went to see give your snake antibiotic injections?
I think your biggest problem is that you've been having bad luck with bad vets. Many general animal vets claim to be experianced with exotics when they are not; it's all for the money. Ask the vet a few questions. Do they have a degree in reptile (or exotics) medicine? Are they able to perform major surguries on reptiles? Although surgury wouldn't help your snake, he deserves a true professional.
The best advice I can give you is to find a true professional vet (even if he/she is not in your area) and give him/her a call or email. Margaret A. Wissman is one of the best exotics vets around, but I can't find her email or phone number...
Good luck! I hope he recovers quickly and fully.

Re: New thread for my old thread: think my vet is full of crap
Oh my god that's horrible!! It looks more like a burn to me, but whatever it is, it looks terribly irritated and very painful My first suggestion would be another, better vet but if that's not possible due to of lack of funds, then I can understand how frustrated you must be. My advice would be to keep it on newspaper, and just keep putting antibiotic ointment and betadine solution on it. Also, although raising the temps slightly might help, I wouldn't raise the humidity. If it is scale rot, then bacteria thrive in warm moist environments so that might make it worse. I would keep the humidity at the normal 50-60%
Try to get it to a better vet ASAP when you have the money. I feel really bad for both you and the snake. I'd be incredibly upset too if this happened to me
Good luck

Re: New thread for my old thread: think my vet is full of crap
That poor animal. That must hurt.
I don't see anywhere where you've indicated where you live. If you give us at least a general area, I'm sure someone can help you find a good vet to get this snake to. If money is that much of a big deal, it might be best to give it up to a rescue. It's just not fair to let it go. In the meantime, like others have said - paper towels, and some ointment.
I'd also suggest a weak chlorhexadine solution for soaking, as betadine can be a bit rough on wound edges and cause damage to regenerating cells.

As seen in your previous thread and this one your snake has bad shed stuck all over...the shed left on the snake will build up over time...this can damage the scales underneath...i guess thats whats going on...

Re: New thread for my old thread: think my vet is full of crap
god this makes me feel like a bad parent or something.
im in varin va, issue is theres a billion vets around and only one that has a reptile "specialist" this sucks. im leaving for the pet store in town in about ten minutes to talk to a guy i used to go to school with a long time ago...someone let me know yesterday his parents own the store and he runs it, they have alot of snakes and i called them thismorning and they want to meet with me and set me up with some supplies for free. also they are willing to take in the snake for me if it becomes something that is out of my control whcih i think might already of happened, being a pet store ownert hey have way more resources than i do. also found the number of the breader i got my corn snake from and he is also willing to take in the snake if need be. either way im hoping one of the 2 can point me to someone soewhere!
HOWEVER and this sucks too my internet is turned off now, spent it on my vet. so now for me to check this forum i have to ride into town and use the library computers so responces wont be as prompt.
keep ya fingers crossed for my buddy pike
