Re: Any tips on how to give shots? Vet experience today : [
Personally, I wouldn't soak her. Too much soaking can leach the oils in their skin that helps them shed. If she is having a bad shed, use a damp pillowcase and leave her in there for 15 minutes.
If she is soaking on her own, check her for mites just to be safe. Usually the only reason they soak is to kill mites.
If you haven't already, change your substrate to paper towels It helps keep everything clean and will let you know when a mess has been made.

Brian of BHB has a vid on youtube on giving injections, only soak after a shed to assist getting old shed off, as far as soaking in her dish, I'm sure the vet would have noticed if she had mites, some snakes just like to camp out in their water bowls.

I give shots in the upper third of the snakes body about 3/4 inch-1 inch down from the spine. I find it helpfull to do it on a hard surface and have a second person help hold the snake. other than that just try not to go in too deep and you should be fine.

Just remember to stay calm. The first time giving the injection will be the hardest. They squirm a little when you first put the needle in so try not to freak and pull it out. Once it is in under the scales just inject. A pinkish lump will appear which will dissipatate by the next day. Good luck.

I changed her bedding to paper towel right away when I got home from the vet because since she had the RI she was drooling and aspen was getting stuck in her mouth. I think this shed should be better anyhow since I switched her to the tub and her humidity is perfect Thanks for the pillow case tip

Yea I'm sure after the first shot I will be fine. It's just this first one that has me all paranoid. But I'm sure it will work out just fine.
