Question Question or anyone that can answer???

My youngest baby bp hasn't eaten today and he is a really shy boy so I put the mouse in the tub with him a few hrs ago and covered with a towel and he still hasen't eaten it should I leave in overnight or take it out???? Also if i do leave in overnight would I be able to freeze the mouse if he does not eat it or will it be bad?? All the 5 other bp's ate like champs tonight and they all hand feed but this one. Last time he ate I put him in a tub with it and put the lid on and within minutes he grabbed it. I tried to hand feed this time too but to no avail so i tried to do the same as last feed and I just looked and it is still there. Any answers or suggestion? I think the last weigh in he was only like 125-150 grams if I remember correctly. I don't know if this helps. Here is a pic of him.

He looks fine. Very healthy Sometimes they just don't feel like eating. Just keep offering it to him once a week the way you got him to eat before. You don't need to start worrying until he actually starts losing weight.

If you leave it in there overnight re-freezing isn't a good idea. A lot of bacteria can gather on it over that amount of time. If you only have it out for a short amount of time then re-freezing once is okay but no more than that.

I personally wouldn't try leaving it in overnight unless he refuses several more times though, but it's up to you

ok thanks! I just looked in on him and he still didn't eat it so I am gonna take it out. Can I freeze after a few hrs out? Doesn't freezing kill the bacteria?? Also he seemed so interested in it when I was trying to hand feed him but just wouldn't strike at it?? Is he still too young? I even tried to put a hole in the skull of the mouse to release the juices and nothing.

    Freezing kills some bacteria.

If the snake isnt in the mood the only thing you can do is offer it food. As long as he is healthy and active don't worry. Once he starts to lose weight then you can worry.

Some snakes are just picky. Try again next week (or in 5 days at his weight).

She means you could be feeding him every 5 days because he is still small.

Are you feeding him in a separate tub? I would just try feeding him in his normal enclosure. Just drop the f/t mouse in close the tub and turn off the lights.

Yes I was feeding in a different tub but When he didn't hand feed I put it in his tub and covered with a towel so he felt more secure and no one staring at him. He ate like that before when I just put it in a different tub and put him in with it he ate it within a min or two. That was on monday so I will try again in a day or two. He seemed interested but nothing happened. So next time I will try just throwing it in his tub andleaving him be.

I would wait 5 days from today and then offer again. Offering food too soon after a refusal can just make them refuse more.

Most will feed their bp that are under 400g every 5 days. then once they reach 400g switch to every 7 to 10 days accordingly.
