Re: tank problems
I use a temp gun to gauge my temps as well as the ones that stick on the tank. I measure the temps 3 times a day with the gun, at substrate level on both sides, and ambient on both sides. I tend to stay 82-84 cold, 88-92 warm temps
http://www.tooldiscounter.com/ItemDi...?lookup=RAYMT4 is my gun and the place I bought it from. Works well for me.

Re: tank problems
Your gauges could be incorrect. Mine tend to be off by a few degrees, that's why I use the gun. I have the sticky temp in there because he likes to wrap around them and perch on them. I will be removing them and making the bamboo perch in the DIY section tomorrow. I don't think the stickies would be safe anymore
What bulb are you using? I use a 70 watt black light. The white lights tend to scare mine and don't warm as well in my experience.
Are you using UTH also with the basking light? If so, check the thermostat on the UTH.
What is your house temp? I have found if my house is under 75 degrees, my tank gets cooler. Only makes since if the room temp is cooler, the tank would be cooler

Re: tank problems
You could try covering part of the top screen with a towel to trap some heat in. I do that and it also helps with humidity

Re: tank problems
is it fine if one side is 82* and the other is 76* during the day?

Re: tank problems
Seems a bit excessive to have that much heating. All i use is an undertank heat pad and still acheive proper temps. i'd consider buying a rheostat, dimmer or termostat etc. to get your temps right. good luck.
