the <a href tags are HTML tags and they are disabled on the forum, for security purposes.
To display images, all you need to do is wrap the URL of the image in IMG tags, just like this:
[IMG]http://i711.photobucket.com/albums/ww114/BLong7211/012.jpg[/IMG]
which will render this:
